Client’s Challenge

Our state government client required a user-friendly and effective audit management and electronic software system to replace the current outdated software and manual, paper-driven process for audit planning, audit assignment and scheduling, audit execution, audit working papers, time and budget management, audit reporting, audit database management, taxpayer communications, audit review, and all other administrative and performance related reporting needs.

BWG’s Approach

Blake Willson Group teamed up with its partner Workiva, the global leader in cloud-based connected compliance and reporting solutions to modernize and transform the client’s compliance and reporting processes. Through our agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) we conducted a thorough requirements gathering that fueled an effective and efficient design period. We conducted stakeholder interviews to gather key insights and develop effective user stories that allowed developers to build the customizations needed for the client. To ensure an effective go live, BWG conducted UAT and change management activities (training, strategic communications, and on-going user support), managed necessary data migration, completed user set-up, and validated all specifications with client stakeholders.

Solution and Benefit

The client was able to modernize its internal audit methodology with data control and consistency throughout the entire audit life cycle—from the initial audit plan to the final audit reports. The solution allowed for collaboration in a single cloud platform, eliminating the clutter of multiple file versions and revisions, and provided a secure platform for all audit information, reducing the risk of error by identifying, analyzing and monitoring organizational risks with confidence. We were able to optimize the internal audit team’s productivity through the creation of powerful dashboards and user-centric reports that offered real-time insights into the status of each audit engagement.
