Client’s Challenge: Our Defense customer needed to transform its Cash Accountability functionality to a daily reporting status with Treasury to reduce costs and improve effectiveness. The customer managed 50 unique data feeds processing approximately 4.5 million monthly transactions totaling nearly $60 billion and required support with its data architecture, analyzing sets of data to ensure capability into the single feed to Treasury, and defining common terms of data to ensure consistency.
BWG’s Approach: Blake Willson Group provides O&M support on the custom technology system used to compile financial transaction data from 50 unique data streams into one daily report to Treasury. Our support includes providing help desk services, data management and validation efforts. Our IT SMEs host functional requirement reviews with systems users for change requests and to review common issues discovered in assessment of help desk tickets. We serve as the liaison between our client and its interfacing partners in support of new interface agreements as well as modifications or enhancements to existing functionality, utilizing ORACLE CASE tool Designer to create functional Entity Relationship Documents and Functional Hierarchy Diagrams. Our team employs an Agile software development methodology to manage each sprint and provide maximum flexibility and transparency to stakeholders. We provide end-to-end testing services from use case development, leading and participating in UAT sessions, and working to implement code changes to rectify identified issues.
BWG is also providing change management support to ensure adoption amongst the user community through trainings, strategic communication, and analysis of help desk tickets and change requests. Customized trainings are delivered both on the software solution and updated business processes in both group and one-on-one sessions. BWG develops user guides and tutorials to serve as just-in-time and on-demand learning resources and refresher materials for on-going learning.
Solution and Benefits: Our client was provided with an automated tool that incorporated all reconciliations with Treasury, providing its customers with an ability to reconcile payments and collections with Treasury daily and giving senior leadership one application for reviewing all reconciliations across the Department. We provided on-going O&M to assist users experiencing technical difficulties, updated functionality in line with requested changes, and providing change management services to increase user adoption and successful use of the tool. We’ve developed no-code reporting and dashboards using Power BI to help inform stakeholders and enhance decision making.
